Lead in blood in children 1978-2011

Lead in blood in children has been measured in the South of Sweden since 1978. The major sources of exposure have been emissions from leaded petrol and industry. The blood lead levels in children show a decreasing trend in parallel with the reduction of lead in petrol. The blood lead concentrations continue to decrease after 1994 when leaded petrol was prohibited in Sweden.
