In conjunction with the 200-year anniversary celebration of Karolinska Institutet there will be an international symposium on climate change and health.

Climate Change and Health is a rapidly expanding research field. This symposium aims at giving the scientific basis and state-of-the-art knowledge on climate-related health research, and will discuss current research challenges and opportunities. Three internationally leading scientists will give the morning’s keynote speeches: Henning Rodhe who is professor in Chemical Meteorology, Tony McMichael a pioneer in the field of climate change and health, and Paul Wilkinson from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

The symposium will address the following topics:

The scientific basis for climate change
Health effects related to climate change
Specific research areas linked to climate change
- air quality and health
- extreme temperatures and health
- infectious diseases
